Expats & Tax

Expats & Tax - What are Contractors Liabilities

"The hardest thing to understand in the world is income tax." Albert Einstein

Tax Aggressive strategies, Tax Sheltering, Tax Havens and Tax Mitigation are being used less due to public opinion and corporate governance. And they are more and more prohibited by General Anti-Avoidance Rule (GAAR) statutes in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Norway & Hong Kong, and by Judicial Doctrines in the UK & US.

Expats also often face the daunting tasks of defining where their residency is for tax purposes. As a result, full payment of in-country Personal Income Tax and Social Security by Expats, and off-setting this against residential tax, is becoming more and more normal.

CCL works with its contractors to guide them through this process, either direct to, and paid by, the multinational, operator or EPC, or via CCL when the client wishes CCL to take on their liability, via employed, self-employed or personal service company solutions in-country, achieving net payments, along with tax paid certification.

For over 35 years CCL has had an outstanding reputation for paying its contractors on time; Clients pay all CCL fees, so Contractors pay no fees to CCL.

Please contact us to discuss any local or resident tax issue when you are mobilising.
