This role is responsible for the design, construction, maintenance and improvement of large equipment and facilities which are used for processing and producing oil and gas. They may be situated either onshore or offshore. Process engineers support the plant equipment, both onshore and offshore, to ensure that it remains efficient and productive. They can work for a range of companies, including those which manage or own production facilities (known as operators), service companies and engineering consultancies.
Your duties are likely to involve:
You must hold a degree in chemical engineering or a similar technical discipline.
A willingness to become a Chartered Engineer (a professionally recognised qualification) is useful. You should be willing to, and have the ability to gain offshore safety training and medical certificate. Work experience in a similar role gained during study is also desirable.
£27,000 - £40,000, rising to £60,000 upwards (once Chartered)
You could progress to become a senior engineer, principal engineer or a consultant, or move into a team leader or manager role.
