Mudloggers support the data engineers and crew chief by collecting rock samples and analysing them. The role is vital to the exploration and production process. Normally based offshore, mudloggers collect and monitor information from drilling operations and rock samples using a variety of equipment and laboratory techniques. The information they gather is then passed on to the drilling team for operational purposes.

You must have an HND or equivalent in a relevant subject with relevant work experience, or a degree in relevant subject (such as geology) or equivalent.
Employers may also look for basic offshore induction and emergency training (BOSIET) and the offshore medical certificate.
£25,000 - £30,000, rising to £45,000 - £70,000 with experience.
You could progress to the roles of field specialist, data engineer, crew chief, client representative, or specialist technical development.
