Contracts engineers are responsible for conducting reviews and considering legal aspects of contract award and administration, and provide an essential skillset to the oil and gas industry. They also hold other responsibilities including preparing and drafting commercial bids and tenders, estimating the costs of a project and ensuring that the costs are controlled. They make sure that the contracts or business agreements that the company enters into are commercially viable, that costs are managed and that the company understands any commercial risks that might be involved.
Your duties may include:
You must hold a degree (or equivalent) in quantity surveying, law, engineering or a related business subject. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are vital.
Employers may look for a professional qualification in procurement, surveying or a related profession. Ideally you will also have excellent analytical skills and pay attention to detail.
£23,000 - £38,000, rising to £45,000 - £70,000 when experienced
You could progress to roles including Senior Contracts Engineer, Lead Contracts Engineer, Contracts Manager or Commercial Manager.
