Subsea engineers support subsea projects and activities offshore. They might work for a range of companies, including those which manage their own production facilities (known as operators), engineering consultancies and service companies.
As a subsea engineer responsible for the design and installation of equipment and structures below the surface of the sea, you’ll provide a range of services, including:
HND in a related engineering subject with relevant work experience (or equivalent) or a degree in a related engineering discipline (or equivalent).
You should be willing to become a chartered engineer, a professionally recognised qualification, and have the ability to gain offshore safety training and medical certificate. Work experience in a similar role gained during study or university is also desirable
£27,000 – £40,000, then from £60,000 once experienced
You could become a senior engineer, principal engineer or a consultant, or possibly move into a team leader or manager role.
