It’s the job of the logistics controller to help make sure that equipment and materials are in the right place at the right time, so that they can delivered on time to support operational requirements. Logistics controllers arrange for equipment and materials to be transported to or from offshore or overseas, or between onshore locations. They work in companies ranging from operators and equipment suppliers to transportation and logistics. Transportation is carried out by road, rail, air and sea.
As a logistics controller, your regular duties might include:
You’ll need previous experience in logistics, plus good organisation and administration skills and good office IT skills.
You should be familiar with company materials and maintenance management systems, SAP, etc. An awareness of the transportation of hazardous goods requirements would also be useful.
£20,000 - £30,000, rising to £30,000 - £40,000 once you have gained experience.
You could progress to the role of senior logistics controller, or a logistics manager /team leader.
