Geophysicists interpret seismic data to create maps of hydrocarbon build-up, and they also study the physical properties of rocks. They gather and evaluate well data that helps build reservoir models to predict the potential flow from the reservoir. Geophysicists work closely with other technical departments in order to find and extract oil and gas from existing fields, as well as searching for potential new targets. They are usually employed by operators or consultancy firms.
